A fragment of a copper alloy La Tène III type, Nauheim derivative brooch dating from the 1st century BC to 1st century AD. The fragment consists of the upper part of the bow and part of the spring. The bow is sub rectangular in shape, thin and slightly convex. The bow narrows slightly towards the lower half and ends in an old break. An incomplete cast copper-alloy Iron Age La Tene III 'Knotenfibeln' (Boss-on-Bow) type brooch, dating from 100-50 BC. The remains of the brooch consist of two of the four original large spring coils, with the cord passing internally below the remaining coils. This is followed by a sharply arched neck and moulded decoration on the upper surface of the bow, which is circular in cross-section at the top and D-shaped in cross-section at the bottom. An Iron Age gold 'early uninscribed' quarter stater of 'Danebury Scrolls' type (ABC 791/BMC 539).
Obverse: Scroll-like flourishes around central cogwheel sun.
Reverse: Horse left, wheel above, floral sun below, three ring-and-pellet joints to the right.
The coin is slightly dished, and worn at the edges.
