A complete copper-alloy harness fitting terret ring of late Iron Age to Roman date, c.100 BC - AD 100. Lewis Type 2; Simple Terret. The terret ring comprises an ovate-sectioned basal strap bar flanked by semi-circular moulded collars. A D-sectioned loop extends to either side of the collars, tapering in diameter to the point opposite the strap bar. The bracelet comprises twenty-one (21) complete conjoined pointed ovate knobs with transverse double banded ridges at the juncture between each knob. The section is an asymmetric ovate having a more distinct curve to the upper surface. Both terminals are in the form of half knobs. The metal has a mid-green delaminated patina and is worn. The bead is cruciform, or quatrefoil, with a flattened central panel through which is a central square aperture. The aperture would have accommodated an iron rod onto which the beads would have been threaded. Each arm terminates in convex ovate lobes.
