Foot and the stub of the catch plate from a bow brooch, probably a Colchester brooch, with a bow which is rounded in front and lightly facetted behind, and a probably fretted or perforated catch plate with ?round holes and with curved setting out lines on one side of the catch plate. Possibly Mackreth type C 3.3a. This would have been an unusually large brooch when complete. Suggested date: Late Iron Age to Early Roman, 20-60

Copper alloy cosmetic set fragment. A cast D-section ring of diameter 23.1mm retains an implement which has been folded with a loop to attach it to the ring, the loop being decorated by a single central longitudinal groove on one side – apparently the reverse. The implement has a keeled rhomboid lightly concavo-convex blade with a pointed tip springing from one side of the loop, with a thinner and also lightly concavo-convex strip or tab as an apparent counterpart behind the better-preserved part. Cast sub-cylindrical object with slightly flared and flanged ends which partially close an internal cavity and lacking a wall for about one quarter of its circumference, probably as an original feature rather than damage. The outer side bears symmetrical D-shaped moulded features with a triangular field between them on either side, with grooves separating these mouldings from the ends.
