A single large sherd of pottery. A body sherd from a handmade jar. The fabric is reduced and dark grey with moderate rounded quartz sand temper and very occasional larger inclusions (one of which is a piece of chert 14 mm in length). The exterior surface is coarsely burnished and there are occasional burnish lines and scratches on the interior surface. Lorraine Mepham of Wessex Archaeology has identified this as early to middle Iron Age and of a fabric type found on other sites in Wiltshire. Date: Early to Middle Iron Age- c. 800 to 400 BC Weight: 110 g
