An incomplete copper-alloy bow brooch, dating from the 1st or 2nd century AD. The upper bow and head are missing, the sharpness and lack of patination on the break indicating that this damage probably occurred relatively recently. The remaining bow is of triangular cross section, its straight sides being parallel along much of its length, but converging to a point at the foot. Where the original surface remains, the central ridge can be seen to have been decorated by means of a series of horizontal grooves. The catchplate is located on the underside; it is unperforated and has lost…

De Jersey (2014): "A hoard of nineteen gold coins reportedly found on the site of a housing development in July/August 1995. The site was searched after the top 30 cm of soil had been removed by JCB; the first coin was a further 7-8 cm down. The coins were widely scattered across the site, and given the large-scale removal of the topsoil it is possible that others went undetected. The hoard was not declared and the information presented below has been assembled from a variety of sources, some more reliable than others."
