A cast copper alloy object, 37.7mm in length, possibly an Iron Age or early Romano British strap fitting or belt/strap slide. The object has a convex plate, which is ridged and facetted and which expands slightly towards one end. There are triangular projections at either end; the one at the wider end is more clearly defined. The object is possibly unfinished or mis-cast, as suggested by the crude finish and unclear form. The reverse is concave with an integrally cast loop, broadly trapezoidal in shape.

An extremely corroded copper alloy looped fitting, 22.4mm in diameter. The object comprises a ring with internal diameter of 13.7mm, from one side of which projects a stump of an arm, shank or other attachment. The opposite side of the ring is heavily worn on the inner surface suggesting a use under tension. Possibly part of a strap fitting such as bit link or strap link and of Iron Age to early Medieval date. See SUR-1350A3 for something similar.

A cast copper-alloy strap fitting from the Late Iron Age (c.100 BC - AD 100), circular in plan, 16 mm in diameter, 4 mm in thickness and weight 4.05 g. Approximately 1 mm in from the circumference the fitting has been pierced by a tear-shaped hole, 4.7 mm in diameter; diametrically opposite it is a linear piercing 9 mm long and 1.5 mm wide. There are signs of wear around the edges of the circular piercing, suggesting that a fastening cord may have passed through it. On the obverse face a 5.5 mm long and 0.5 mm wide linear incision has been made, connecting the two piercings to produce…

A copper alloy strap fitting, which could be from either a belt loop, a personal strap fitting, bridle fitting or non-load bearing harness fitting. This decorative fitting most probably dates to the Late Iron Age. It is however also possibly that this object dates to a later period. It is formed of a figure of eight loop with a third loop set at 90° between the two. The three loops appear to have been wrought together by a bronze smith, rather than being cast as one piece. The three loops were probably made individually and then soldered together. The joins would then have been hea…
