The find consists of a single Iron Age twisted multi-strand style torc with ring terminals similar to others found in Norfolk over the last 60 years. The torc has an internal diameter of approximately 20 cm. It is made of predominantly gold and silver.
It is made from four strands of wires twisted around each other two and a half times. Each of the 4 strands is made from 6 wires (c. 3 mm thick). The strands are alternately twisted one clockwise and the next counter clockwise. The strands were cast on to the terminals. Evidence for this is clearly visible …

Incomplete Late Iron Age to Roman copper-alloy brooch, probably a rosette type. It has an incomplete cylindrical spring case, now open at the top, with all edges being worn breaks, perhaps apart from the forward edge and a concave pin slot at the centre of the reverse.
The bow is reasonably flat in cross-section. It arches in a C-shaped profile and probably tapers in width from top to bottom. The lateral edges are heavily abraded and no more than half of one edge is original. Decoration begins with a narrow transverse groove and ridge immediately below the spring case. Then …

Object type: LINCH PIN
Broad period: IRON AGE
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Published
Middle Iron Age to Early Roman copper alloy vase-shaped linch pin head. The flat-topped discoidal terminal is surrounded by two grooves, and there is another encircling groove immediately above the mouth. This groove is interrupted by two opposed holes in which is set a pin or dowel, in paler green surfaced alloy, which would have secured the iron linch pin. Of the latter there is no trace. For the most part hard against the inner face a piece of copper alloy sheet is pierced by one end of the dowel and runs around to the other end. This sheet must have acted as packing to reduce the i…

A complete copper-alloy late Iron Age to Roman openwork mount or strap fitting. The object is discoidal in shape. Between them there is an expanded transverse disc, projecting forward, sideways and very slightly rearward. Immediately below this on the front of the bow is the characteristic turned-up beak. All parts are cast in one piece. There is no trace of the spring or pin.

Bow brooch of most unusual form, now patinated dark brown with lighter, rusty coloured pits covering the surfaces, some of the broken and abraded edges are showing green. The head/pin mechanism is missing, leaving a sub-rectangular slight expansion just before the irregular break. The catch plate is set to the right-hand side when viewed from the front with the (missing) spring uppermost; this is of typical open topped form, with the trough for the pin slightly angled to accept the pin; it is now incomplete.
The bow is of trapezoidal section and thickens towards the mid…

Copper alloy brooch fragment, lion bow type with bull's head. Only most of the lion, bull's head and a fragment of the bow survive; much of the surface is heavily corroded. The fully round lion figure formed the upper part of the bow (the missing back legs would have joined a hinge holding the pin). No detail survives on the back half; at the back of the base of the neck there is a row of punched small > shapes. The eyes are small punched circles, other facial features are corroded but a larger area of wavy lines on the front of the neck is probably the same as the >'…

Incomplete iron and copper alloy linch pin dating to the period c. 100 BC - AD 100. The head is missing. The iron shank is now heavily corroded, the original cross-section indiscernible. The base of the shank fits into a socketed copper alloy foot. Sub-conical in form, traces of a moulded collar are visible at the mouth of the socket under a layer of iron corrosion. Just below, on one side only is a moulded relief ring-and-dot motif. The foot curves along its length and expands into a discoidal terminal. The face of the terminal exhibits a raised circular border expanding in width from…
