Incomplete Iron Age ribbed bracelet with bosses. Approximately 40 - 45% of the original circumference remains. It consists of a series of ovoid knobs of unequal size alternating with groups of four transverse ribs, terminating in a break at either end. It exhibits an uneven dark green patina, with red-brown patches and is heavily pitted. Ribbed and knobbed bracelets are testified in Iron Age and Roman contexts (Stead & Rigby, 1999, p.81 - 82, fig. 112), however, this example bears closest resemblance to Middle - Late Iron Age examples. Description: Two aurei of Augustus found in the same area as six other coins recovered previously (2017T827, NMS-297275) and representing an addendum to that group. Each carries a peck mark on the obverse, similar to the peck marks noted on the other coins. The pecking would have been carried out to check that the coins were of gold and not plated forgeries. Date: The lack of any coins of Tiberius implies that this hoard was assembled in the early 1st century AD, probably in the first two decades of the century, in the late Iron Age, and well before the Roman Invasion of AD43. Late Ir…
