Broad but shallow groove running from upper mid-bow onto foot, Very gentle taper down to pointed terminal from two transverse grooves at top of bow. Maximum width 4mm. Estimated length c.45mm. 1st century BC - 1st century AD.

A hoof-shaped foot from a linch pin with the embedded remains of the end of an iron pin. A circular depression, asymmetrically placed on the underside of the hoof is decorated with three curving engraved lines that have left a triangular concave-sided space in the centre. The motif is the same as that on a linch pin foot from Wymondham (HER 37333) Length 45mm. Maximum diameter 18.5mm. Diameter of decorated underside 20mm. 1st century BC/AD.

An incomplete La Téne 1 type brooch. With an oval sectioned bow, now straight, and broken shortly after the start of the narrowed and curved neck at the top. The foot has a side extension forming the catch-plate which is now broken or worn, before narrowing and curving back on itself to terminate in a stylized animal head consisting of a disc with a snout. There is a single stamped dot in the centre of the top of the animal head. With the pin and spring missing. Length (at least) 62mm, width of bow at maximum 6mm, depth of bow at maximum 5mm. A very unusual continental brooch, incomplete, possibly a Knickfibel (angle-brooch) type. Has an oval-sectioned bow and leg, a straight cut upper end with a projecting integral rivet, the head is missing, has a sharply angled bend above a transverse slightly convex-sided rib, tapering to a point at foot. There is an openwork triangular catch-plate on the reverse with twin transverse lines on the outer face at the base. Measures 5mm x >61mm. Cf. Hattatt (1987) no.754. First half of the 1st century AD.

An incomplete small toggle (for fastening bags, clothes or straps), which is corroded and pitted, with a segmented bar comprising three conjoined bi-convex elements. From the central one of these elements springs a broken circular-sectioned shank of a possible missing loop. Length 15mm. Diameter 7mm. Probably 1st century AD.

A La Tène I brooch of Hull and Hawkers 1987 Type 1Bc. The pin and half of the spring is missing, and the bow is squashed almost flat. The axis bar is still extant. The bow is decorated with an engraved line along the sides and with two median lines. Present length 51mm. Width of bow 11.5mm.

Incomplete probable razor with straight cutting edge. The curving rear edge has been filed into a series of notches and projections. There is a suggestion that the widest point is extant as the rear edge begins to taper before the break. This is quite unlike any Late Bronze Age /Early Iron Age razor, and an Iron Age or Roman date is far from certain. >30 x 19.5mm.

Iron age copper alloy spoon. Thin, very shallow dish, pointed at one end and rounded at the other with a groove forming a border around the edge of the dish and very faint traces of an incised cross on the concave face. The handle is formed by a flat crescent shaped projection at the rounded end of the dish decorated with two shallow circular depressions and a groove around the edge, and a much thicker disc with a raised, moulded edge and large central circular boss with central circular depression on the upper face. A fragment of an unusual, possibly Continental, brooch. The broken, narrow, upper end of which splays with slightly concave sides to the top of the flat-sectioned bow, the bow then tapers towards a transverse break at its foot and is decorated with a longitudinal median groove flanked by two bordering grooves both containing an engraved rocker-arm line. Cf. a broadly similar brooch of the Mid-European Iron Age illustrated in Hattatt (1989) no.1729.
