In August 2003 members of the Sedgeford Historical and Archaeological Research Project (S.H.A.R.P.) discovered 20 Iron Age gold coins concealed within or associated with a cowbone, using a metal-detector in the course of archaeological excavation. The objects were brought to the British Museum for examination on 22 September. 19 further coins were discovered in the vicinity. All 39 coins belong to the same type.
