In August 2003 members of the Sedgeford Historical and Archaeological Research Project (S.H.A.R.P.) discovered 20 Iron Age gold coins concealed within or associated with a cowbone, using a metal-detector in the course of archaeological excavation. The objects were brought to the British Museum for examination on 22 September. 19 further coins were discovered in the vicinity.
