Two Iron Age silver staters, both uninscribed issues of the South Western Durotriges type (ABC no. 2169, BMC 2532-2550. VA 1235), probably dating to 50-20 BC.
Coin 1: Diameter 20.59mm; weight 3.08mm; die axis 8 o'clock.
Coin 2: Diameter 20.33mm; weight 3.32mm; die axis 2 o'clock
Date: Late Iron Age - 50-20 BC.
Discussion: The two coins were found in relatively close proximity to each other and on the balance of probability were probably associated at the time of deposition, but later disturbed by cultivation.

Copper alloy British Iron Age Potin coin. A degraded "Thurrock" type of the Cantii. Left facing head of Apollo on the obverse and a left facing bull above an exergual line on the reverse. The remains of the casting sprue are visible on opposite edges (above abd below the head).

Incomplete Langton Down strip brooch dating from the early Roman period, made of a strip of thin copper alloy sheet metal, folded into a tube at the top to hold the pin mechanism. Only one of the wings and the bow of the brooch survive with a tapering body with three broad parallel longitudinal grooves down the front face. The foot, catchplate, pin, spring mechanism and one of the wings are all missing. The brooch appears to have been coated in a black substance, perhaps burnt organic material having been part of a cremation burial, which has since rubbed off on the upstanding surface…

An incomplete copper alloy Langton Down brooch. The short wings are complete, open to the the rear and at either end. The wings are filled with the fused remnants of the copper alloy spring for the missing pin.There is a copper alloy axis bar visible at the ends of the wings. The head of the bow is arched upwards from the wings, curving downwards and tapering towards the break. The bow is decorated with moulded longitudinal ridges. It is oval in cross section.
Date: Iron Age to Roman - AD 25 - 60.

An unidentified copper alloy object, probably of Early Iron Age date. The object is irregular in plan, consisting of a central triangular element, oval in cross section and with a concave socket at its mouth. There is a pronounced V-shaped indentation on either face at the opening. From either edge of the central socketed-element expands a C-shaped projection. A fragment of a cast copper alloy La Tene I brooch dating to c.500 to 300 BC. The object is a section of the bow, which tapers at both ends, one end into the stub of an integral spring. It has a sub-circular cross-section and arches in the middle. The foot is missing.
Date: Iron Age - La Tène I - 4th to 3rd century BC.

An Iron Age silver quarter stater of the Durotriges dating to c 50 BC - AD 43. The type is known as Duro Boat Dots. The obverse depicts 'Three men in a boat' design with what appers to be the hull of a boat with oars along the side and above three 'figures' or 'sails' and a pellet rosette to the left of the hull. The reverse depicts zigzag thunderbolts and a line of pellets across field, Y-shape and uncertain objects to each side.
