A fragment from a enamelled cast copper alloy Crescentic terret of probable late Iron Age date. The fragment measures 36.8mm by 24.6mm by 12.1mm and weighs 18.44g. It consists of part of the hoop and a 10mm length of the cast-in-one copper alloy bar, which is narrowed with a circular cross-section (diameter 6.2mm). Beside the bar the hoop has a sub-circular cross-section (diameter 11.9mm). This narrows to around 6mm internally, with a flat rectangular cross-sectioned exterior, much of which has been damaged. A cast copper alloy head, of probable late Iron Age date. It measures 19.26mm in height, 14.90mm ear to ear and weighs 17.18g. It may have once formed part of a small figurine. The head has uneven hollow eyes with defined semi-circular brows above and a straight nose. The ears are low and D-shaped, defined by a semi-circle to the rear and hollowed inside. The mouth is an assymmetric upturned crescent shape and the chin tapers to a rounded point, giving the face an almond shape overall. Copper alloy double-sided strap union,. The oval central plate element has a frame of two raised crescents forming a central circular recess. On one side in the recess are two large raised ring and dot/ roundel decorations flanking two smaller ring and dots with a continuous frame forming an hourglass shape. Unevenly fired clay with areas of reduction and oxidisation . Tempered with flint and crushed limestone pieces . The spindle whorl is a slightly tapering cylinder with convex sides. There is a circular hole running longitudinally. This is placed centrally at the narrower top and off centre at the wider base. At the top there is a ridge around the edge. The base is flat. There are three girth bands sub-circular depressions running around the outer surface.
