A Late Iron Age to Early Roman copper alloy hinged strip bow brooch, probably dating to AD 25-70. The brooch survives largely complete, with damage to the head and the axis bar and pin lost. The bow is bent at a 90 degree angle at roughly the mid-point, with the foot pointing forwards. The head of the brooch consists of a rectangular sheet of copper alloy with a central rectangular slot to accommodate a hinged pin, now lost. A Fragment of a probable Iron Age to Early Roman brooch, probably a Nauheim derivative La tene III brooch, dating to c. AD 20-60. The fragment has been heavily distorted, but comprises of a probable bow, with a high-shouldered sub-lozengiform plate, tapering into a wire at the head of the brooch, but which is truncated. The bow tapers into the foot, but this is truncated prior to the catchplate and terminal. The bow is decorated with an incised central longitudinal band with oblique notches creating a corded effect. An Iron Age to Early Roman copper alloy bead, probably dating to c. 800 BC - AD 100. The bead is circular in plan and biconical in cross section, with a circumferential ridge emphasised by slight incised lines. The bead has a large, central, circular perforation 6.2mm in diameter. Dimensions: diameter 15.1mm; thickness 7.3mm weight 5.14g. cf. BH-431B44 and SUR-14AA83, amongst others for similar examples on this database. A larger example, but of similar form, was excavated at Camerton and dated to c. 50 BC - AD 50 (Jackson 1990: 48 & plt. 14).

An incomplete Roman copper alloy strip bow brooch, a British variant of an Aucissa brooch, dating to c. AD 20 - 70. The surviving fragment comprises of the upper bow and damaged head, the rest of the brooch being lost to old breaks. The head of the brooch is rolled back to hold an iron axis bar, partially surviving in situ and with a rectangualr slot cut to accommodate a hinged pin. The obverse depicts 'Three men in a boat' design with what appers to be the hull of a boat with oars along the side and above three 'figures' or 'sails' and a pellet rosette to the left of the hull. An incomplete cast copper alloy Iron Age brooch of La Tene I type dating to 4th - 3rd c BC. It is missing some of the pin but is otherwise complete. The brooch is in a single piece of copper alloy which has been split and rolled over at the top to create the tube for the suspension pin (which is missing).
