An incomplete copper-alloy Late Iron Age to Early Roman (AD 25-60) Colchester brooch. The remaining part of the brooch consists of an almost complete bow. The foot, catchplate, wings and pin are all missing. The spring mechanism does not survive.
The bow is short and tapering
The metal is very worn and corroded. The surface is pitted. The metal has a mid brownish-red colour. This brooch is similar to examples in Hattatt, 2000, pp297, Fig. 156.

An annular object, 35mm in diameter with a central aperture 12.5mm wide, and with an extension, 9mm long, at one point on the circumference. The extension has iron projecting from one end while the opposite has a hemispherical projection which appears slightly pink.

A copper alloy penanular brooch wth pin missing. Bent into shape from a single piece of faceted copper with terminals bent straight outwards, and with rounded knobs at the end, each containing an incised line around their circumference. Hattatt's type B2. The ring has an accentuated thickness away from the terminals and a trapezoidal cross section. 38.55mm diameter and 5.48mm maximum thickness of ring, the terminals are 14.08mm and 13.72mm long.

Two conjoining pieces of copper alloy, D-sectioned bracelet. The outer surface has moulded decoration consisting of two groups of three regularly spaced convex projections (two smaller flanking one larger) each flanked by a raised transverse rib and separated by a deep groove. The two groups would have been on opposite sides of the now bent bracelet. One side is considerably more worn than the other. Its dimensions are: 146.59mm x 13.57mm x 5.93mm

Incomplete copper alloy object. Cast u-shaped object which curves backwards and tapers to a narrow strip behind the u-shaped part before it is broken off. Between the two elements is a circular aperture. Behind the u-shaped part and joining it to the tapering element is a thin strip which bounds the lower part of the circular aperture. The u-shaped part is decorate with a deep lateral groove and two diagonal grooves which form a triangular raised area.

Cast copper alloy fitting of uncertain date but possibly Iron Age. The fitting forms an arc (of overall length 62.9mm) and has a circular pin (diameter 6.0mm, height 4.6mm) at one end and a circular hole at the other end (diameter 6.0mm, depth 6.8mm). The piece is of rounded D-shaped section (14.4mm wide, 10.9-11.4mm deep), and the arc has an internal diameter of approximately 55mm and an external diameter of approximately 75mm. 3 sherds of black burnished ware pottery. Very dark grey, soft fabric with sand temper. The exterior is burnished and there is evidence of a slip on the interior in that a thin cream band is visible below a the very dark grey to black surface. Possibly Poole/Wareham fabric 1b. Two conjoining sherds and one other from open bowls with a small bead rim. (type 13 bowl). This type generally dates from the 1st century Ad in Dorset.

Rim sherd from ceramic jar. Reduced grey brown fabric with sparse sand temper and frequent irregular voids where larger pieces of temper (up to 4mm and probably shell pieces) have leached out. The fabric is very light weight and friable. The form is a simple, slightly uneven beaded rim. Fairly abraded. Identified by Lorraine Mepham as Early to Middle Iron Age.

A cast copper alloy head, of probable late Iron Age date. It measures 19.26mm in height, 14.90mm ear to ear and weighs 17.18g. It may have once formed part of a small figurine. The head has uneven hollow eyes with defined semi-circular brows above and a straight nose. The ears are low and D-shaped, defined by a semi-circle to the rear and hollowed inside. The mouth is an assymmetric upturned crescent shape and the chin tapers to a rounded point, giving the face an almond shape overall.
