A Fragment of a probable Iron Age to Early Roman brooch, probably a Nauheim derivative La tene III brooch, dating to c. AD 20-60. The fragment has been heavily distorted, but comprises of a probable bow, with a high-shouldered sub-lozengiform plate, tapering into a wire at the head of the brooch, but which is truncated. The bow tapers into the foot, but this is truncated prior to the catchplate and terminal. The bow is decorated with an incised central longitudinal band with oblique notches creating a corded effect. A near complete copper alloy harness fitting of Iron Age date, c. 250-150 BC. The object is a form of terret, sub-circular in plan with a straightened attachment bar. This bar is more clearly and consistently cylindrical in cross section, and its ends are marked with bulbous circular studs.
