An incomplete cast copper-alloy bow brooch. A one piece Colchester type. The wings are short and rectangular and sit in front of the integral sprung pin mechanism. The spring has three coils on the right side the outermost of which extends into the chord, looping over to the other side where there are three coils. The innermost of these extends into the stub of the pin. The chord is secured at the head of the bow with atapering integral tab projecting forwards. An incomplete copper alloy strip bow brooch. The wings are formed from two integral tabs which have been rolled over behind the head of the bow. The wings would have housed the missing axis bar for a missing hinged pin and there is some iron corrosion product adhering to them, suggesting these may have been of iron. The bow tapers to a narrow plain foot. The stub of the catchplate remains behind the foot.. The bow is decorated with a longitudinal groove along each side. Date: Late Iron Age to Early Roman - c. The wings would have housed the axis bar for a hinged pin (both of theses are missing). The bow tapers to a narrow plain foot. It expands slightly in profile until it thins and splays into a hooked catchplate at the foot. Thew bow is decorated with a single off-centre longitudinal groove. A cast copper alloy knobbed terret. A D shaped terret with a narrowed and off-set attachment bar. The bar has a rectangular cross section and is slightly bent. Flanking the bar are two disc shaped terminals, each with a partial girth groove. The terret is decorated with are three large integral knobs, one either side of the bar and one in the centre of the outer edge. All are waisted with expanded circular domed tops.The tops have a central circular recess containing red decayed enamel. Framing the recess is a reserve of metal and a concentric groove. A copper alloy ring. A probable harness ring (a link or strap distrubutor). The aperture of the ring is circular, but the outer edge of the band is squared. Each side is an oval and between them are semi-circular knops, one at veach corner. the band is broadly recatngular in cross section.There are signs of wear on the inner surface an some slight distortion.
