A copper alloy Iron Age ring headed pin dating to the period c. 300BC - AD50. The pin consists of a circular head with a circular perforation. The shank of the pin projects from the bottom of the ring-head and features a circular perforation with a cylindrical rivet in situ. The pin bends at a slight angle just below the rivet and then curves back in the opposite direction, tapering along its length.
The ring-head measures 28.26mm in dimater with an internal diameter of 13.58mm and is 7.91mm thick.
The pin has a smooth dark brown patina.

A copper alloy and red glass pin head (most likely the head of a dress pin, see note). The object is of composite construction The lower part is hexagonal in outline with a wide central aperture containing the domed upper section of (probable) red glass with a central separate copper alloy pin. The sides of the lower part are decorated with chevrons formed of raised oval ridges with dotted lines oitlining them and some of the spaces between infilled with moulded cross hatching. An incomplete cast copper alloy pin. The shaft is circular in cross section and tapers to the break point (from 3.12 mm to 2.49 mm) The head is disc shaped and has a concentric ridge framing a groove around a central domed projection. Below the head is a narrow ridge or collar around the shaft. Dr Kevin Leahy has suggested an Iron Age date for this pin.
