A fragment of copper alloy sectional bracelet. An almost complete short section, probably from a two-part bracelet. The piece is parallel sided and curving, C-shaped in cross section (convex on the upper face and slightly hollowed on the underside). The ends are straight with a rectangular pierced lug projecting on the vertical axis from the centre of one edge and an oval cross-sectioned pointed lug projecting from the centre of the opposite end. The lug has a large circular aperture and would have attached to an axis point on the missing part of the bracelet in order to form a hinged …

An incomplete Iron Age or early Roman knobbed bracelet dating to the period c. 800 BC - AD 100. The band is slightly curved along its length and consists of a series of five conical mouldings of irregular size with rounded tops separated by grooves. The mouldings become wider and higher towards the centre of the band. The reverse is concave. There is a drilled circular perforation at each corner, two of which are incomplete due to old breaks. The bracelet has an uneven patchy green and brown patina. The breaks show the same uneven patination as the rest of the object. The bracel…

Fragment of a sectional copper alloy bracelet. The object has a shallow curve in plan. It has a rounded triangular section with the apex forming the outer surface. At one end there is a circular recess and at the other is a short, circular sectioned projection. The recess and projection form a type mortice and tenon attachment seen on hinged collars of Iron Age date (see Jope E.M. 2000 Early Celtic Art in the British Isles Clarendon Press Oxford, p. 239 - 240). The exterior of the bracelet is decorated with a girthridge flanked by a girth line, a row of dots and another girth line on …

Fragment of a possible hinged copper-alloy bracelet, brooch or other item of personal adornment of Roman date. This is a tapering, D-sectioned, cast fragment with a narrowed, pierced tang at the wider/proximal end. It is broken at the distal end. The object is curved with a convex front. There is a small triangle of blue enamel inset on the mid line of the main body of the object, towards the distal end. The point of the triangle is towards the distal end. The back is undecorated. The tang projects from the middle of the wide end of the object in the same plane as the main body. The s…
