Single piece brooch. Very narrow bow. The bow is leaf shaped, tapering to a pointed foot. Small catchplate remains. The bow is decorated with an incised central line with diagonal lines either side at the top end of the bow. The spring is of round sectioned wire, two coils remaining on the left side and broken off at the end of the chord.

Copper alloy brooch. Bow brooch. Le Tene I type. Two piece brooch. Pin broken off and absent. At the head is the coil of the sprung pin around an integral axis bar. The bow is arched and thickened from the head. It tapers to a flattened catchplate at the foot. From this it continues into a back-curved bar with a bulbous, oval terminal.

Copper alloy brooch. Plate brooch. 'Wheel'brooch. Fragment of narrow, circular felloe or outer frame. There is a central lozenge plate with a short spoke from each point, four in total, to the felloe. There is a small lug on the outer edge of the felloe at each spoke. Only one spoke remains. The central plate has an incised circle. Inside this is a concentric band of dots, inside which is the stub of a central boss. The back is flat and undecorated with a small catchplate behind the spoke.

An incomplete copper-alloy Late Iron Age to Early Roman (AD 25-60) Colchester brooch. The remaining part of the brooch consists of an almost complete bow. The foot, catchplate, wings and pin are all missing. The spring mechanism does not survive. The bow is short and tapering The metal is very worn and corroded. The surface is pitted. The metal has a mid brownish-red colour. This brooch is similar to examples in Hattatt, 2000, pp297, Fig. 156.

A copper alloy penanular brooch wth pin missing. Bent into shape from a single piece of faceted copper with terminals bent straight outwards, and with rounded knobs at the end, each containing an incised line around their circumference. Hattatt's type B2. The ring has an accentuated thickness away from the terminals and a trapezoidal cross section. 38.55mm diameter and 5.48mm maximum thickness of ring, the terminals are 14.08mm and 13.72mm long.

A cast copper alloy Birdlip brooch of late Iron Age date. The brooch measures 54.2mm in length and weighs 12.4g. The integral sprung pin has broken off the oval upper bow. Part way down the bow there is a moulded transverse projecting disc and below this a further moulded projection which curves upwards and narrows to bluntly pointed terminal. Below this the bow narrows gradually into a plain rounded foot. On the back of the lower part of the bow is the incomplete flat catchplate, which has two cut-out sections. A cast copper alloy Langton Down brooch of early Roman date. The brooch measures 40mm in length and weighs 5.5g. The measurement across the incomplete cylindrical wings is 16.6mm. They conceal the remains of the spring for the missing pin. The bow has a thin rectangular cross section which is consistent throughout its length. An incomplete cast copper-alloy Colchester one-piece brooch of early Roman date. The surviving part of the brooch measures 33.4mm by 11.4mm by 13.3mm and weighs 2.6g. It comprises the crossbar (one side of which is damaged), the rearward hook which kept the incomplete chord in place, the curving bow and about half of the spring. The bow is plain and tapers to a point. Very little of the catchplate survives.

An incomplete cast copper alloy La Tene type I brooch of Iron Age date. The surviving portion of the one-piece brooch measures 38.6mm by 6.6mm by 6mm and weighs 10.8g. It comprises the bow and one twist of the spring. The pin, catchplate and terminal are missing. The bow has a circular cross-section. Several similar brooches are illustrated in Hattatt's 'Visual Catalogue' (e.g. nos. 724 and 725 on p. 288, both of which are from Britain but are not more precisely provenanced).

Part of an Iron Age copper-alloy brooch, probably of La Tene type 1B, dating from the 4th to late 3rd century BC. The arched bow is of 'D-shaped' section, its outer surfaces (but not the central area) 'pecked' to produce a scale-like effect. At the top, the bow tapers towards the now-missing spring; at the bottom, it bends at a right angle, extending into a vertical foot, which has been flattened and has a pin groove in its upper surface.
