A copper-alloy Roman provincial bronze coin of Tityassus (Pisidia), possibly of Trajan Decius (AD 249-251), dating to the period c.AD 249-251 (Reece period 12). [...]CC[...] reverse type depicting a Temple with four columns. Cf. RPC IX (online edition) no. 963 (http://rpc.ashmus.ox.ac.uk/coins/9/963/). This coin has an extremely corroded flan and is underweight compared to the RPC examples. Its patina and findspot suggest it is a genuine ancient loss, although a more recent loss cannot be ruled out entirely. The coin is 17.3mm diameter, 2.7mm thick and 3.4g.

A copper coin of uncertain date - Claudian or Neronian (Reece Periods 2 or 3). COHOR PRAE PHIL reverse type depicting three standards. Mint of Philippi. RPC I, p.308, no.1651. From RPC I, p.308: "these coins have always been assigned to the reign of Augustus, but some doubt now attaches to this in view of their composition, which is copper rather than bronze. At Philippi, and indeed elsewhere in Macedonia, copper is not found before the reign of Claudius, so a Claudian-Neronian date seems likely."

A copper alloy coin from Phoenicia. It may have been minted at Aradus in c. 350 – 332 BC. The obverse shows a turreted bust right of Tyche. The reverse is very worn but shows the prow of a galley right, though all that is obvious is two rectangular blocks. The inscription above the prow is illegible. It has a diameter of 17.62mm, thickness 2.92mm, weight 4.69g. For reference see Sylloge Nummorum Graecorum Copenhagen, Phoenicia, pl. I, c.f. 27-9.

A copper alloy Roman coin; a coin of Gordian III (238 - 244), struck at a Greek mint, probably Philippopolis in Thrace. It has a diameter of 15.9mm, a thickness of 1.7mm and a weight of 1.91g. See http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/sear/s2523.html for a similar obverse and reverse but from a different mint. A published example of this coin has not yet been found, but there are so many varieties of Roman and Greek Provincial coins, that this is not unusual.

A cut garnet oval intaglio, of Hellenistic origin. The incised design depicts a female figure, leaning on a column with her left elbow. The subject is Aphrodite, who seems to be either robing or disrobing herself. The intaglio is 13.5mm long and 7.7mm wide, and is flat and undecorated on the reverse. The style, subject and shape show it is Hellenistic and probably dates from the 3rd or 2nd century BC. This object was originally erroneously recorded as Roman and depicting Securitas. Database user Ittai Gradel kindly submitted an error report pointing out the mistake, and also provid…
