A cast copper alloy strap fitting, probably dating from the 11th or 12th century. The incomplete object consists of an oval-sectioned bar with a rectangular frame at its outer end. The opposite end expands into a sub-rectangular sectioned moulded 'stop'. The 'stop' is decorated with a raised central band of copper alloy from which projects four sub-oval knops at each angle. The base of the 'stop' terminates with a break. Fragment of a cast copper-alloy Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch from the late 5th or 6th century AD. The fragment is a zoomorphic terminal from the foot of the brooch (pictured upside down). The object has expanded circular nostrils above the spatulate extension, which is decorated with a transverse groove above a row of stamp marks. The stamps appear to be annulets, but are largely obscured by soil. Each nostril has a central circular dot. Above the nostrils is the broken stub of the nose of the animal. Cast copper alloy pin dating to the Early Medieval period, (400-1066AD). The object has a polyhedral head below which is a worn transverse collar. The shaft is circular in cross-section and measures 1.39mm in diameter. The head is facetted with 12 faces. There is no visible decoration on the faces. The top of the head is lozenge shaped and undecorated. The object has a brown patina and is worn. A similar example is no.361, p67, Griffiths et al, (2007). A similar example which can be found on the database is LVPL-54A6A0.

Cast copper alloy wrist-clasp, probably of Hines form B20, dating to the early Anglo-Saxon period. The object is sub-rectangular in plan and rectangular in cross-section. It is decorated with a vertical ridge and groove, to the side of which is a series of transverse lines. On the opposite side of the plate are two circular perforations. Each edge of the clasp is broken. It has a mid-green patina. A similar example is no.29.25, p179, MacGregor and Bolick, (1993).

Cast copper alloy zoomorphic strap end dating to the Early Medieval period. The strap-end is made from a solid piece of copper alloy. The central panel of the object is decorated with worn interlace. The terminal is moulded to form an abstract animal's head backed by two curved incisions representing ears. The butt end has two perforations for rivets. The reverse is undecorated and has been damaged. The object can be classified as G. Thomas's Class A, Type 2. Similar examples can be found in Meols, (2007), p73. The object has a brownish green patina and is worn.

Incomplete cast copper alloy cruciform brooch dating to the Early Medieval period. The Anglo Saxon brooch consists of the headplate and top-knob. The headplate is trapezoid in shape with sub-rectangular side wings. The top-knob is semi-circular in section and domed in outline with a moulded collar. The side knobs are missing. The headplate has decoration in the form of punched semi-circles which run in a vertical line down the edge of the headplate. The bow is missing. On the reverse of the headplate is a of a semi-circular pin lug. The object has a dark green patina and is pitted.

Description: Silver strap-end of Thomas's Class A, type 1, originally decorated in Trewhiddle style, but later re-worked to depict a human figure, perhaps imitating a 'Heiligenfibel' or 'Saint' brooch.
