A fragment of a cast copper alloy saucer brooch of early-medieval (Anglo-Saxon) date, dating from c. AD 450-550. The fragment (the larger of the two in the image, on the right hand side) has geometric patterns in a border around a central double-armed cross. There is traces of silvering. The reverse of the fragment retains part of the broken pin lug. Interestingly, this fragment re-fits with a fragment found at Detectival 2018 (which also matched to a third piece found in 2018) and donated to the Museum. A complete cast copper alloy strap end of early-medieval date (c. AD 750 - 950). The strap end belongs to Thomas' Class A, Type 2. It is sub-rectangular in shape tapeing to a zoomorphic terminal consisting of an animal's head with ears, eye-ridges and flat snout all depicted. The main plate is decorated with a simple cross-hatched design. At the rear of the strap end are two holes for rivets to attach the strap end to a leather strap - the rivets are now missing and the holes are damaged. A worn and incomplete copper alloy Anglo-Saxon disc brooch, flat and originally circular. The front has a punched ring-and-dot motif at the centre, now very worn, surrounded by six similar motifs; a seventh and eighth motif might have been in the missing fragment. The reverse has a single pin lug and the remains of the catch plate. See similar examples in MacGregor and Bolick 1993, 63-65, in particular no. 4.43. It dates to the late 5th or early 6th century AD.

The upper side of the buckle has incised decoration in the Ringerike (Anglo-Scandinavian) style. A complete cast copper alloy hair or dress pin of middle Anglo-Saxon date (AD 700-800). The pin has a biconical head, more rounded on the upper half and more conical on the lower hemisphere, narrowing into the circular-section shaft; this head shape is sometimes called 'balloon-shaped'. The head and shaft are separated by a raised circumferential collar. The shaft of the pin is now bent, with two almost right-angled bends, in the same fashion as a Roman pin found nearby (see OXON-2AD3B5). The shaft narrows towards the tip of the pin, the very end of which is missing.
