An incomplete iron knife, probably dating to the eighth to tenth centuries AD. It possesses a short rectangular-sectioned whittle tang, which is broken at the end. The other end steps out from both sides at the shoulder to a wide triangular-sectioned blade. The cutting edge is straight, the back edge curving outwards before kinking in towards a break. There is a fuller on one side only. On the fuller side, parallel diagonal lines can be seen. Those above and below the fuller go in alternate directions. A fragment of a copper-alloy early medieval (Anglo-Saxon) pin dating to the period AD 700 to 900. Only the head of the pin and the upper part of the shaft survive. The head is biconical in shape. It tapers to a circular-section stem. Where the stem meets the head the stem has a circumferential collar. The presence of a small collar below the head indicates an early medieval rather than Roman date.
