Object type: FINGER RING
Broad period: EARLY MEDIEVAL
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A late Early Medieval copper alloy finger ring. The hoop is rectangular in section and incomplete. The bezel is flat, lozenge shaped, and decorated with punched dots.
The overal form of the ring in addition to the use of punched dots suggests this is a late Saxon or Anglo-Scandinavian product. Similar elements can be seen on LVPL-B45BB6, NLM-D675CA, NLM-6309B5, and NMS-D6A72C.
Cf. Goodall in Rogerson and Dallas (1984) fig.110, nos.12 and 13. 10th - 11th century.
