Iron blade from an Early Medieval, Anglo-Saxon, whittle tanged knife. The blade has a wedge-shaped section on which the tang is missing. The blade is broken, corroded and damaged but the presence of an angled point allows it to be placed in Drinkall and Foreman's Type E, a type that had a long period of use (Drinkall and Foreman, 1998, 279-81). Length 102.5mm (projected from bent), Width 17.8mm, Thickness 3.2mm, Mass 18.37g

Iron blade from an Early Medieval, Anglo-Saxon, whittle tanged knife. The blade has a wedge-shaped section on which the tang is centrally placed. The blade appears to have a curved back but its cutting edge has been modified by sharpening making it impossible to classify it and suggest a date range. Iron pin, probable Early Medieval, Anglo-Saxon. Now corroded and damaged the pin had an original length of 60.0mm and a diameter of around 3.6mm. One end appears to have been pointed while the other is bent back to form an 8.3mm wide, oval loop. While of a very simple form this pin can be parallel by, for example the copper alloy pin in Grave 134 at Castledyke South Barton on Humber (Drinkall and Foreman, 1998, 181, Fig. 95)

Early Medieval, Anglo-Saxon, iron spearhead. Blade lozenge-sectioned and angular, with shoulders where it joins the split socket. While corroded the weapon is in good condition although the blade is slightly bent and the socket has suffered some recent damage being found separately and re-attached. An attempt was made to classify and date this weapon using the system defined in Bayliss and Hines (2013, 163-170) which uses ratios between spearhead's various elements. These allowed the spearhead the spearhead to be placed in Type SP2a2b1, and sequenced to Periods AS-M A - before AD 5…

Fragment of an Early Medieval, Anglo-Saxon, iron shield boss. Low, conical body, straight sided and surmounted by an apex button set on a short rod. The absence of the flange makes classification difficult but the side wall had an over-hanging carination. In Bayliss and Hines classification (2013, 148-62) this boss can be placed in SB1a and was seen to date to before AD 565. In Dickinson and Härke's earlier classification of shield bosses (1992, 11) this find can be fitted into Group 1.1 for which a late fifth-mid-sixth century date was suggested. Early Medieval copper allow strap end of Thomas' Class A Type 2 'Patterned' although, in the case, the face appears undecorated. However, the surfaces have been damaged by corrosion and the decoration may have been lost. The strap end tapers along its length with a sharp reduction in width a a point just above the two hollows representing the eyes of the animal head terminal. At this point the thickness increased from 1.1mm to 2.2mm. Further details of the animal's head were present on the terminal but corrosion makes them difficult to understand.
