An incomplete copper-alloy possibly Early Medieval hair pin, dating to c. AD 500-600. It consists of a oval cross-sectioned shaft, which tapers towards a bent and broken tip. The head of the pin is defined by two circumferential grooves at its lower edge and below those there is a series of narrower circumferential grooves. It is a trapezoidal plate, which has a complete long side with a bevelled inner face; its outer face has a longitudinal raised band decorated with two lines of unclear indentations. No parallels found. The patina suggests an Early Medieval date and it comes from a field which has produced a large number of Anglo-Saxon finds. One face of the hoop has a longitudinal line of juncture, mainly sealed, but slightly open for 12.26mm.
