A fragment of a copper-alloy Cruciform brooch of Early Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) date (AD 475-550). Only the headplate and lower terminal remain. The headplate has a trapezoid flat central panel, with a slender rectangular wing to either side which terminate in an abraded transverse break. The strap end has a zoomorphic terminal but simply executed with moulding detailing the recesses for the eyes and the snout; there is no other decoration. A complete Silver Ingot, of possible Early-Medieval date (AD 800-1,000). The object is sub-ovate in shape with tapering rounded terminals. It has been cast in a shallow mould, possibly sandstone as there is a stipple pattern on both surfaces. The ingot has a possible cut mark at one end. There is nothing about this that is sufficiently diagnostic to date it more firmly Length: 44.13mm, Width: 19.32mm, Thickness: 9.18mm, Weight 34.4g. An incomplete set of copper-alloy tweezers of probable Early-Medieval date (AD 500-800). The arms are formed from one sheet of rectangular sectioned copper-alloy. One of the arms flares out to a triangular expanded end, the other end is rectangular and narrowed. The end of the narrowed arm terminates in an old abraded break. A copper alloy fragment from a Cruciform Brooch of Early-Medieval date (AD 450-650). The fragment is the foot which is lunate or pelta-shaped and from a small cruciform brooch. The foot is plain and the upper narrowed portion retains some iron corrosion adhearing to the surface, the rest of the brooch is lost. The metal is a dark green in colour with a predominantly smooth patina. Similar examples can be seen on the Portable Antiquities Scheme database: NLM-439C48. LEIC-3B4D90 and SF-DB064B.
