A pair of Early Medieval (early Anglo Saxon) copper alloy tweezers dating 5th - 7th century. The tweezers are made from one sheet of folded copper-alloy with flared and in-turned nibs. There is a single ring and dot motif on each side of the fold at the top of the tweezers underlined by a pinched line forming a loop with the fold. An incised line runs along the edge of each side down to the flared nibs which are decorated with four punched ring and dots motif in a roughly triangular pattern. A large complete cast copper alloy buckle frame of early-medieval date, Marzinzik type 5a (2003, 23). The buckle is sub-D-shaped in plan with a chunky circular section. The tongue is mostly missing from the tongue/strap bar which has substantial iron corrosion around around it, likely remains of the tongue. The strap bar is minimal and and not deeply inset. The outer edge of the frame is thinner than the tongue side. No obvious deocraiton. This buckle frame plate is grey green in colour due to copper alloy patinaiton.

A copper-alloy early medieval strap-end (9th-11th centuries). The strap end is roughly tongue shaped being slightly wider at its attachment end and slightly narrower at the other which terminates in two round protrusions. From the tongue end towards the attachment edge there are groups of holes contributing to an openwork design, likely originally foliate. A complete copper-alloy key and keyring of late early-medieval or early-medieval date (c. 900-1000 AD). The key consists of a very small suspension loop attached to a large flat solid oval bow, an apparently common late early-medieval type from the 10th-11th centuries. The bow is decorated on both sides with an irregular punched ring and dot design. The hollow stem is undecorated save for three closely spaced thin transverse incised lines. A complete copper-alloy stirrup-strap mount, dating from the 11th century of Williams Class B, type 4.
The mount is roughly rectangular in plan with scalloped edges a trilobate apex, a main body with animal masked and a pierced flange at a 45 degree angle. The Animal mask dominates the main body of the mount and is ovoid wider at the crown and pointed at the bottom, with clearly defined eyes, snub noses and pointed triangular ears. An incomplete copper-alloy Anglo-Scandinavian bridle cheek piece, of Williams Type 2, dating to the 11th Century AD.

The cheek piece remains as a flat triangular plate which has broken across the hole which held the iron bit in place. From one corner the elongated terminal extends into a rounded swelling and ends in a rounded knob, possibly suggesting an animal snout. The mount is roughly pear-shaped with apex rivet hole with a rolled rivet flange at the bottom through which other rivet holes would have perforated but has now broken away. It is dominated by Urnes style openwork decoration which sits on an outline shape of the frame. An incomplete thin copper-alloy Anglo-Saxon strap end of Thomas Class A Type 1, dating to the 9th century AD.
The strap end is sub-oval in shape with convex sides, tapering at eachy end particularly. The terminal which likely had beast head, has snapped off. Dominating the body of the strap-end is a panel of decoration consisting of a crouching beast facing backwards over its body within a simple border. The beast has large round eye and ear. The split top of the strap end (used to attach the strap-end) has also snapped away, all of which are broken save for the back left one.

A rim sherd of coarse irregular fired middle-saxon (c. AD 650-800) wheel thrown ceramic vessel.
The sherd is irregularly shaped and roughly concave. It has part of the lip of the pot of remaining and part of a shallow neck likely widening into a wide shoulder and large body. The mouth of the pot would have been about 120mm in diameter. The shard has been oxidised on the face of the vessel but the internal is unoxidised. There is abudent mixed fossil shell inclusion throughout, some sparse mixed sandy inclusions and grog throughout.

Two sherds of coarse irregularly fired middle-saxon (c. AD 650-800) wheel thrown ceramic vessel.
The sherds are both irregularly shaped and roughly concave. The larger shard appears to be a base sherd and the smaller a body but are heavily abraded. The shsrd have been oxidised on the outer face of the vessel but the inner face and internal fabric is unoxidised. There is moderate mixed fossil shell nad mixed sand inclusions throughout.
