A fragment of cast gilded silver bow brooch, probably a small radiate-headed brooch, dating from the mid-sixth century. Description: The fragment represents part of the triangular foot plate and the bottom of the short, low bow. The bow is very slightly pointed where it meets the foot plate, and appears to have featured a central ridge cast in relief, creating two decorated fields on either side of the bow. Abramson states that these coins are from a substantial series issued in Frisia for commerce in Dorestad on the Rhine mouth, where they were heavily traded. An incomplete silver finger-ring of early-medieval date. Description: The surviving part comprises the bezel and part of the shoulders. The bezel is a pointed oval shape, and the band would have emanated from the pointed ends. It has a dark grey patination save for where it has been recently scratched. The bezel is decorated with a zoomorphic interlace design in the Trewhiddle style.
