An incomplete, lead-alloy, late Anglo-Saxon, or Anglo-Scandinavian, disc brooch dating to the 11th century AD. Description: The brooch is circular in plan with a significant central dome. The reverse is flat. The front face is decorated with relief moulding, consisting of a circumferential border of diagonal laddering. without which is radial spokes from a central pellet on the boss. With each of the segments created is another in relief pellet. of raised pellets. A cast lead-alloy object, possibly a weight of 10th-12th century date (see discussion) Description: The object is rectangular in plan and has slightly warped meaning it is no longer flat. The reverse is undecorated and entirely unfinished remaining very rough. The top face has a very worn depiction of an armed? and helmeted figure facing left. They appear to be wearing a nasal helmet with a rim of studs, the rest of the figure is harder to discern. Possibly a triangular body has a spear over one shoulder. Description: The spindle whorl has one wide end which is slightly concave and a flat thinner other end and curved sides creating a beehive shape. the central perforation is 13.42mm in diameter. the whorl is patinated an off white.
