An apparently late early-medieval copper alloy stirrup terminal dating to the 11th century, with old damage to one side. The terminal is zoomorphic in form and depicts an animal's head with bulging elongated pointed-oval eyes to either side at the centre and a prominent snout with pronounced lip to the front at the open end beneath. An apparently complete copper alloy middle/ late Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) strap-end with a straight rather than curved short end. The strap-end is solid with a stepped attachment end and a thin plate of a different copper alloy attached to the stepped area with two rivets. It is rectangular in shape. The strap end is decorated with a symmetrical, rather geometric design and Robert Webley suggests it is a Class E, Type 5 (Carolingian) (pers.comm. May 2015). An incomplete late early-medieval (1000-1100) Anglo-Scandinavian copper alloy stirrup strap-mount of Williams Class A, Type 13, missing its apex loop (old break). Projecting backwards from the opposite end is a common right-angled flange with two iron rivets (c.4mm diameter) in situ on its underside. The mount is lozenge-shaped with a central slightly irregular openwork lozenge. There are semi-circular lobes at the side apexes, each decorated with a raised circular boss.
