The head-plate is sub-rectangular with integral flat circular projections to two edges; the left (when viewed from the front), and the top. A third edge is broken and worn. An incomplete copper-alloy pin of Early-Medieval date, c.AD 700 - 900. The pinhead is polyhedral, with faint ring and dot decoration visible on two of the main sides. The faceted sides of the pinhead are worn. From the base of the head a short length of straight circular sectioned shaft extends terminating in a worn break. A possible slight raised collar is present at the junction between the head and the shaft. The metal has a mid-brown patina and is worn. One end displays a worn break and the opposite end has sloping shoulders to a narrower sub-ovate tang. The knife is extremely rusted, and the organic handle is missing.
