Copper alloy mount. Cast oval plate with four teardrop-shaped hollows on its display side, one now open, and with the stubs of three integrally cast prongs on the back. The integral prongs would usually point to a post-medieval date. However, the reddish cast to the metal, the worn surface condition and the – for that later period – unusual form may rather point to an Anglo-Scandinavian context for this object.
