An Early-Medieval silver early penny (or sceat) of Secondary Phase Series R8 (Naismith RSb) dating to c.AD710-50, mint: East Anglia (Ipswich?). Ref: Naismith 2017: p.103, table 4, figure 5. Obverse: Radiate bust right with long eyebrow, lips formed of two lines, no neck; runic legend before, inverted 'V' with two annulets behind.  Reverse: Degenerate beaded TOTII standard with various symbols, diagonals to corners, crosses to sides.  Probably 12 o'clock die axis. Weight is 1.01g.

An Early-Medieval silver sceat of Secondary Phase Series J (type 37), c.710-25; probably minted in the Humber region. This sceat shows a whorl of four birds, in linear style, themselves forming a cross clockwise around the central cross pommee on the reverse. The obverse side of the flan shows two diademed heads with braided hair, facing each other with trident long cross pommee between. The obverse shows a diademed head right with crescent ear and angular nose set within a double beaded border. The reverse shows a feathered bird right, sat upon a cross with annulets on the limbs of the cross and a trefoil of pellets below the limbs, set within a tripple beaded border. An early medieval silver sceat; Series E (variety G3); mint: Netherlands; c.AD 705-10. The coin most closely resembles variety G3 although it is somewhat crude. Obverse shows a quilled crescent above insect-like creature. Reverse shows a beaded standard with central pellet in annulet and bars in angles. The standard is type G (p.92) with a 'V' shape outside the beaded border, the point touching the standard. The die axis is uncertain but the coin was rotated on a 12 o'clock axis to take the photograph of the reverse. Weight is 1.03g, diameter is 11.91mm, thickness is 1.85mm.
