An incomplete Early Bronze Age cast copper alloy flat axe of undeterminable type, dating from c. 2200 to 1800 BC. The axe is incomplete due to surface loss. It has a surviving length of 76.79mm. The blade end is crescentric in shape, it has a surviving blade width of 44.79mm.  From the blade, the body of the axe narrows in shape, and terminates in a rounded butt. The axe is broadly lenticular when viewed in profile, although heavy corrosion has altered its shape. The axe has a heavily textured surface caused by corrosion; it is copper-green in colour with areas of reddish brown…

Fragment of a copper alloy axe, probably a palstave, of bronze age date c1400-950BC.  Only the cutting blade end survives, therefore its original form is uncertain and the possibility that it is a flat axehead or a short flanged axehead cannot entirely be ruled out. The upturned tips of the blade are reminiscent of Arreton/Bandon flagged axes of EBA III to MBA I (Peter Revill pers comm).  The fragment is broadly sub rectangular in plan with a wide, crescent shaped blade.  The cutting edge appears to be bevelled over two phases, suggesting that it has been sharpened.&…
