An incomplete late Bronze Age socketed axe. It is slim with a flaring blade. The haft end is mostly missing but fragments remain of the trumpet mouth. Both faces are decorated with three ribs. Prominent casting seams down both sides. The blade is 43mm wide.

Bronze Age Gold Strip (possibly a bead) from Much Wenlock - Shropshire Treasure Case: 2017 T42 A small rectangular strip of folded gold with one decorated surface. The object was folded upon discovery and subsequently opened up by the finder. One edge of the strip is complete having been cut regularly with a slightly thickened rim while the other edge of the strip has been torn resulting in a sharp undulating edge. An incomplete cast bronze (copper alloy) faceted socketed axe (axehead) dating to the Late Bronze Age. The body of the axehead is rectangular in plan and faceted, flaring gradually towards the blade. The mouth of the axe is rectangular in cross section measuring 27.16mm x 28.39mm. The shape of the mouth is sub-rectangular (rectangular with rounded corners). An incomplete cast copper alloy gouge dating to the late Bronze Age. The gouge (used as a wood-working tool) is sub-rectangular in plan. The socketed end which is incomplete is oval in cross-section while the incomplete cutting edge is 'C'-shaped in cross-section with an elongated triangular or 'V' shaped groove leading back from it on the upper surface of the gouge. Linear striations are visible on the gouge furrow. A casting flash is visible down each side of the object. The object has a dark brown patina.
