This part of the palstave is the butt end with a sharp transverse break that has occurred a short distance above the stop. It has high flanges which diminish in height towards the butt end where there is a small abraded break. A Bronze Age gold flanged- twisted torc fragment can be dated typologically to the Taunton (c. 1400-1250 BC), more probably the Penard (c. 1300-1150 BC), metalwork phases of the Middle Bronze Age. Treasure case no. 2011 T501. The coiled flanges have a regular spacing although are slightly tighter on one end. Both ends have been cut and as a result the flanges were crushed and are flattened. An incomplete Bronze Age cast copper-alloy palstave (1500 BC-1150 BC). This part of the palstave is the butt end with an abraded transverse break that has occurred just above the stop. It has high flanges and the crest of each flange is incomplete due to breaks and corrosion. At the break the septum has a thickness of 5.6mm at the centre. An incomplete Early Bronze Age barbed and tanged flint arrowhead (2150 BC - 1500 BC). The arrowhead is asymmetrical in plan and bi-facially worked over each face. One of the barbs is missing. In plan, the side with the complete barb is slightly concave and the other side is straight. The end of the tang is obliquely shaped. This arrowhead is pale grey with some creamy mottling. An incomplete Bronze Age cast copper-alloy palstave (1500 BC-1150 BC). The butt end of the implement is missing and the cutting edge is partially missing due to damage and corrosion. The septum has a minimum thickness of 4.2mm and the stops on each side are barely apparent. From the break at the top, the sides flare gently outwards and downwards to the cutting edge which is semi-circular in plan. In side view, the implement is pointed oval. 92.6 x 35.7 x 13.1mm. Weight: 137.81g. The break at the top is old and the surfaces are entirely covered with pitting and corrosion blisters.
