A fragment of a Middle Bronze Age copper-alloy palstave axehead of uncertain type (1500-1150 BC). This fragment is an incomplete blade which is now sub-triangular in plan. Some of the breaks appear to be recent. The sides of the blade flare evenly from the break at the top which has occurred just beneath the missing stop. The cutting edge is missing. On each broad face a central vertical mid-rib diminishes in width towards the bottom. One edge has a prominent casting seam. An incomplete and corroded Early Bronze Age un-looped palstave (c. 1500 BC-c. 1300 BC). The flanges, the butt and the cutting edge are incomplete due to breaks. The butt would have been rounded and the septum has a maximum thickness of 9.7mm close to the 'stop' and a minimum thickness of 3.8mm at the butt end. On both faces, just below the septum, a hollow shield-shaped area extends for a length of c. 19.5mm. Level with the stops the width is 23.4mm and the thickness is 26.3mm. The septum, wings and stops survive. The septum has a maximum thickness of 8.6mm This palstave is corroded and green and has patches of a decayed dark green patina. The breaks are old. An incomplete and corroded Middle Bronze Age copper-alloy looped palstave axehead (c. 1400-c. 1200 BC). The wings, the majority of the septum and most of the lower part of the blade are missing. At the top of the fan shaped blade, on both sides, there is a 'shield' and mid-rib combined to form trident decoration. These mid-ribs extend about half way down the blade. This surviving fragment is the butt end and is trapezoidal in plan, rectangular in cross-section and has an inverted 'V'-shape in side view. The narrower terminal end, which appears to be almost complete, has abraded breaks. The break at the opposite end is crisp and may be recent. This end has a number of casting 'blow' holes.
