A complete flint early Bronze Age barbed and tanged arrowhead. It is triangular in shape with projecting rounded barbs, both of which are damaged and one largely missing. The central tang is sub-rectangular in shape. Both faces have invasive/covering, scaled, low-angle retouch. The flint is a mid-grey colour with heavy patination. Object type: PALSTAVE
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Suffolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Two fragments of a single Middle Bronze Age copper alloy palstave. One fragment consists of the butt end and the other the inner part of the blade. The two fragments fit together neatly at the break. In profile the object has leaf-shaped flanges that become rapidly narrower beyond the stop-ridge along the sides of the blade. The stop-ridge is a raised bar of the same height as the butt flanges. There does not appear to have been a side-loop originally. The blade appears to have been 'crinoline' or S-shaped originally, although the outer end is missing making it difficult to confirm th…

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A fragment of a copper-alloy possible Bronze Age axe. It is sub-triangular in shape and wedge-shaped in profile. One side curves outwards slightly and is relatively sharp suggesting that it may be part of a cutting edge and the shorter side adjacent to this also appears to be complete, while there is a rough break across the longer inner edge. The surface is heavily corroded and the break is very well worn. Because of the damage and corrosion it is uncertain whether this is definitely a Bronze Age axe and if so what type of axe this may be. It should be noted,…

An incomplete copper alloy small middle Bronze Age socketed side-looped spearhead. The blade is leaf-shaped and 13.60mm wide at its broadest point. The mid-rib is angular and continues the length of the blade on each side. The small remaining section of the socket is lozenge-shaped in cross-section and is 9.97mm in length and 10.20mm in width. The surface of the metal is corroded and there is damage to the blade wings and the outer tip, while most of the socket is missing.  This spearhead most likely belongs to Davis' (2012, 2) 'developed side looped' G…

A fragment of a socketed spear of Bronze Age date. Only the mid-rib of the outer tip survives. This is long, narrow, tapering and lozenge-shaped in cross-section. Small sections of the blade project to either side, but these are largely missing. The inner end of the central hole is visible within the break at the inner end and is filled with iron corrosion. The surface of the metal is heavily corroded and the breaks are well worn. Without further diagnostic details its precise form and date cannot be determined, but socketed spears were in use from c.1800 BC until c.900 BC. …

A fragment of a copper-alloy possible Bronze Age axe. It is trapezoidal in shape, rectangular in cross-section and wedge-shaped in profile - tapering towards one end, which remains relatively sharp. There is a rough break across the opposite end and also probably along one side which is straighter than the other, perhaps indicating a deliberate cut. A complete copper-alloy late Bronze Age/Iron Age pin. The stem is circular in cross-section and tapers to a point at the lower end. It is slightly bent out of shape. The head is a flattened knob shape with a concave outer face, a small raise dot in the centre. The surface has a fine brown patina with a band of bright green corrosion around the stem. Cup-headed pins are known from the late Bronze Age (Ewart Park phase), although these tend to be larger and are uncommon, and also from the Iron Age to early Roman period, but again these tend to have larger and deeper cups.
