A complete copper alloy awl, probably of late Bronze Age date. The shaft is sub-rectangular in section and tapers towards either end. One end is pointed, whilst the other is chisel shaped. It survives in poor condition with a corroded surface. It is difficult to date Bronze Age awls precisely. Ben Roberts (pers. comm.) suggests that they are likely to date to later in the period. The form changes little throughout time, however, and much later examples are also known.
