A fragment of a late Bronze Age socketed axehead. Only one corner of the the blade end of the axe survives. Behind the blade the small surviving section of the side curves inwards with a casting seam running longitudinally along the centre. The surviving inner part of the socket is sub-rectangular in shape. Both surfaces have patches of corrosion and there is damage along the cutting edge of the blade. The breaks are all well worn. The socketed form of the axe suggests a late Bronze Age date c.1150-800 BC. Without further diagnostic features it is difficult to assign the fragment…

A fragment of a copper alloy mid to late Bronze Age (and into the early Iron Age) socketed axe. Only a small section of the socketed end survives survive. This is curved in profile with a raised rounded rim along the outer face of the socket end. The breaks are well worn. Both faces have the remains of a dark brown shiny patina in places, but this has worn away on the raised sections. Socketed axes were in use during the mid to late Bronze Age, from c.1300-700 BC. A fragment of a copper alloy middle Bronze Age palstave axe. Only a small section of the butt end of the palstave survives. This is rectangular in shape with a flange running along both side of both faces, each expanding slightly towards the centre creating a H shape in cross-section. The flanges extend almost to the end of the butt. The surface is heavily pitted and corroded with traces of a brown-orange patina in places. The break is worn.
