Middle Bronze Age bronze unlooped palstave axe.
It is a shield-pattern palstave from the Acton Park phase metalwork. It has a dark brown patina. The axe is a heavy implement and complete with the two flanges and a crescent-shaped blade. The straight sides are parallel as far as the stop. The blade flares outwards towards the cutting edge. The blade is slightly chipped as is the surface towards the stop. The butt end is also slightly damaged.

Flint tool probably dating to the Bronze age, (2150BC-800BC). It is poorly made but has been retouched slightly on one face. It is probably a river gravel pebble from the local area rather than imported. The main colour is a rich brown, and the narrowed point is grey. There is a small area of cortex remaining. A middle Bronze Age sidelooped spearhead dating to c. 1300-1200BC. The socketed is slightly flared at its 'open' end, and 20.33mm in diameter, (internal 14.52mm). The loops, which are flattened, are situated roughly half way along the shaft. The head is leaf shaped. The socket is a pronounced mid-rib and the edges of the wings are chamfered. The max width of the wings, and spearhead, is 42.84mm. The outer edge of the wings are 1.58mm thick. The patina is a greenish brown and there is a small amount of corrosion on the wings. A cast copper alloy small axe of Early Bronze Age date. It is of narrow butted form with slight low flanges to either side. The relatively straight sided body broadens to the blade, which is 3.41mm thick. There an indication of the beginings of a stop ridge. The surfaces are all severely affected by invasive corrosion with marked pitting. The butt is slightly chipped. A fragment from a cast copper alloy undecorated socketed axehead of Late Bronze Age date. The piece represents the lower part of the axehead. It is rectangular in section with a hollow rectangular socket. Viewed in plan, the sides flare outwards slightly to the cutting edge which is modestly curved. The axe terminates in old breaks mid-way above the blade end. The cutting edge is 2.92mm thick and is quite damaged. It is 57.24mm in length, 35.78mm wide and weighs 57.8g. At the socketed end the axe is 4.71mm thick. It has a dark grey/black patina.

Fragment of a bronze rim sherd dating from the Late Bronze Age to Roman Period. It is sub-rectangular in plan and in cross-section. The upper surface is bent slightly inwards along the length of the object. The top of the rim is decorated with eight pointed triangles each of which contain between three and four incised lines. The decoration is terminated with an incised transverse line. The object has a smooth light green patina and is highly polished on the outer surface. The reverse of the object is undecorated and unpolished.

Small flint implement. It is sub-circular in plan and sub-oval in section. The flint is a thumb nail scraper, probably a local pebble flint. Flints like these are found on Mesolithic sites however this one is most probably early Bronze Age. It has a dark brown patina and some of the cortex remains.

Fragment of calcite-gritted ware dating to the Roman period. It is sub-rectangular in plan and rectangular in cross-section. It is slightly curved in profile. There are frequent voids where the inclusions have been burnt out. The internal fabric has a mid-brown patina. The outer surface has a brownish grey patina and the internal surface has a dark blackish grey patina. There are frequent visible inclusions which are white in colour.

Stone prehistoric loom or net weight, (2150BC-100AD). The object is a sub-oval stone which has been worked to create a weight used with either a loom or a net. At the narrower end of the object, a hole has been bored through from one side of the stone to the other, creating a perforation with which to attach the weight. The perforation is regular and larger on one side than the other. The larger side of the perforation measures 15.28mm in diameter. The smaller side is 11.09mm in diameter.

Basalt bead dating from the Bronze Age to the Roman period. It is oval in plan and in cross-section. A circular perforation runs through the length of the object. It is narrow at one end, 3.83mm, and much wider at the other,6.82mm. The bead is decorated with incised lines which run around the object horizontally. It has a flat bottom and a slightly raised oval at the top. It has a smooth black patina.

Piece of flint waste probably dating to the Middle Bronze age, (1500-1150BC). It is a pointed oval in plan. One surface is covered with a rough light brown cortex. The opposite surfaces are smooth with a mottled white patina. The flint has been struck from a striking platform on the wider rounded end which has resulted in some of the cortex fracturing off below the cortex. Cast bronze object of uncertain date and function. The object is sub-rectangular in plan and rectangular in cross-section. The surface of the object is uneven; one edge is straight while the others have broken in antiquity. There is a large circular perforation at the top edge of the object and a smaller perforation diagonal to this at the lower edge. These may have been intended to contain rivets. The function of the object is unknown however the patina indicates that it has some age to it. It has a mid-green patina.

The blade has corrosion chips along the cutting edge. It has a long central mid-rib and two short ribs to either side, a side loop, a pronounced stop-ridge on each side, deep flanges and a straight butt. An incomplete cast copper alloy dirk, dating to the Middle Bronze Age, between 1500 â 1150 BC. The artefact is sub-leaf shaped in plan and lozenge shape in cross-section. The object consists of part of the blade and the tang both of which have broken before they terminate. One half of a rivet hole can be seen at the end of the tang.
