A flint scraper made on a natural flake, dating to the later prehistoric period, probably the Bronze Age or later. The scraper has been made on an oval flake of grey-white flint with a brown, iron-stained outer cortex. A spool has popped of from the dorsal surface. These are naturally occuring breaks and can occur because of fragilities in the flint; extreme temperature changes can cause spooling (for example if water infiltrates the rock then swells due to freezing) as can pressure. Minimal retouching around one half of the dorsal lateral suggests this tool was used as a scraper. Int…

A flint scraper, semit-circular in plan and crude in manufacture. The scraper has been made on a tertiary flake and crude retouching is present on the curved edge of the dorsal surface. Neither the bulb or percussion lines are evident. The scraper is very crude and that suggests a Bronze Age or later date.

Two late Neolithic / Bronze Age flints. 1: Scraper, crude in manufacture with some limited but concentrated retouch on the dorsal surface at the distal end. The scraper measures 22.97mm long, 30.15mm wide and is 8.17mm thick. It weighs 4.9gms. 2: Blade fragment, some previous surface removals evident but no retouching. The blade is broken, probably broken during manufacture. Undiagnostic later prehistoric. The blade fragment measures 40.16mm long, 20.20mm wide and is 7.44mm thick. It weighs 6.4gms.

A tertiary flake with a thick white patina and some possible retouching along one dorsal edge only, suggesting an ad-hoc use possibly as a blade / saw edge. The crudity of this flake suggests a possible Bronze Age date. The flake measures 70.24mm long, 20.69mm wide and 12.72mm thick. It weighs 19.8gms.
