An unpatinated struck flint object, probably a knife. It is struck from a dark brown/black flint with small bulb of percussion, hinge fracture at the distal end. The dorsal face retains a central band of cortex running the length of the object, to either side the flake has invasive low angled and scaled retouch. It measures 46.11mm in length, 24.37mm in width, 5.86mm in thickness, and 8.79g in weight. This is a flint tool, probably a knife similar to plano-convex knives but retaining cortex on the dorsal face. It is likely to be of later Neolithic to Bronze Age date, c.2700-800 BC.

An incomplete copper-alloy blade, possibly a knife of Middle Bronze Age date. A fragment from the butt or tang end survives, the remainder of the object missing due to old breaks. It is rectangular in form, oval in cross-section, with a flattened mid-rib that flares towards the rounded end, suggesting this is the butt rather than blade end. The opposite end is incomplete, perhaps due to old breaks or damage in antiquity. Potentially the rounded end may be the result of re-use, although this remains uncertain. This fragment measures 40.11mm in length, 14.08mm in width, 4.27mm in thickn…

A slightly atypical struck flint plano-convex knife. It is struck from a dark grey/brown flint with prominent striking platform and bulb of percussion. The dorsal face has extensive flake removal and edge retouch, with one small area of cortex remaining. It measures 47.94mm in length, 29.87mm in width, 11.19mm in thickness and 15.71g in weight. This is a struck flint plano-convex knife of Early Bronze Age date, c.2350-1600 BC.

An incomplete and small copper-alloy blade of Bronze Age date, probably a knife. Part of the butt end and the blade survive, the tip of both ends missing due to old breaks. The butt end is rectangular in form, oval sectioned and has the remains of two circular rivet holes at the incomplete end. On each side it has two semi-circular notches. The blade is short, triangular in form, oval sectioned and tapers towards a now missing tip. All surfaces have a worn and pitted dark brown patina that shows signs of corrosion in places. It measures 57.28mm in length, 18.43mm in width, 2.18mm in t…

An incomplete unpatinated plano-convex knife of Early Bronze Age date. The tip end survives intact, terminating in old breaks towards the centre of the object. An incomplete fragment from a cast copper-alloy knife or rapier blade of Bronze Age date. Only a very worn short length of the blade from close to the tip survives intact, the remainder now missing due to old breaks. It is triangular in form, tapering towards the incomplete tip and missing most of the blade edges due to old breaks. The blade is elliptical in section and has a slightly flattened mid-rib. This blade fragment measures 44.05mm in length, 13.58mm in maximum width, 2.62mm in thickness, and weighs 4.79g. This is the tip from a blade of Bronze Age date, probably a knife or ra…

An incomplete cast copper-alloy knife of Middle Bronze Age date. A fragment from the butt end/tang of the knife survives intact, the remainder of the object missing due to old breaks. The fragment is rectangular in form, oval shaped in section with one incomplete rounded end, the opposite end terminating (snapped?) in old breaks. It has a flattened mid-rib that flares towards the rounded end, suggesting that the rounded end is the butt rather than blade end. The comparatively neat finish of the rounded butt end suggests that the object may have been damaged in antiquity and subsequent…

An incomplete and highly abraded fragment from a copper alloy blade of Bronze Age date. The small fragment that survives is sub-triangular in plan and oval shaped in section. It has heavily abraded and broken edges, and is missing the tip and remainder of the blade due to old breaks. The surfaces have a dark brown patina as well as a few small areas that demonstrate pale green copper alloy corrosive products. The fragment measures 23.31mm in length, 15.48mm in width, 4.30mm in thickness, and weighs 4.43g. This is a small portion from a knife, perhaps even a sword or rapier, and is of M…

A fragment from a copper-alloy knife blade of Middle or Late Bronze Age date. The majority of the knife is missing due to old breaks, and all that remains is a small section of the blade with missing exterior edges and worn surfaces. It is lozenge shaped in section with slightly concave surfaces, the remains of possible curved shoulders suggesting it is from just below the butt of the blade. Dtr. Colin Pendleton (pers. comm.) suggests this is from a Bronze Age knife rather than a larger dirk, dagger, rapier or sword. The fragment measures 20.95mm in length, 22.23mm in width, 5.87mm in …
