A middle Bronze Age gold pennanular ring, dating to c. 1300 BC - 1150 BC. The ring is a tri-partite composite type. The three elements are lightly C-shaped in plan and oval in cross-section and have apparently been soldered together. Each of the elements is about 3mm in width. Description: An incomplete fragment from a penannular ‘lock ring. Originally the ring would have been C shaped in plan and bi-conical in form with the two opposing edges abutting forming a slight gap within the ring. It is formed of 25 or 26 individual square sectioned wires; all but two of these are twisted with an even clockwise turn creating a sinuous spiral like thread. Positioned on the upper and lower faces nearest the central hole are two plain wires acting as a border.
