Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An incomplete cast copper-alloy tanged chisel dating to the Late Bronze Age (probably of the Ewart Park metalworking phase), c. 1100-800 BC. It is broadly triangular in plan and section, with a thinned working edge that thickens into a tang before abruptly truncating prior to the characteristic collar which separates the 'chisel' end from the tang. Preserved in fair condition with an even greenish patina, it measures 45.30mm long, 29.22mm wide at its cutting edge and 3.62mm thick at its midpoint. It weighs 12.61g. A number of similar tanged chisels have been recorded on the PAS data…

Object type: BARBED AND TANGED ARROWHEAD
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Suffolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An incomplete knapped flint barbed and tanged arrowhead of Green's 'Ballyclare' type, dating c. 2500-1500 BC. One barb, the tang and part of the tip are broken away, but otherwise it survives intact. Manufactured on a tertiary flake of fine-grained translucent blackish-brown flint, it is triangular in plan-tapering along its length to a sharp point. The surviving barb is squared off, though due to breakage the form of the tang cannot be ascertained. Covering bifacial pressure-flaked retouch has removed the entirety of the original flake surface on both sides of the object. Preserved i…

Below this, the crescentic blade flares outwards prominently, thinning towards the cutting edge. Preserved in rather poor condition with relatively little of the original surface remaining, it measures 78.49mm in length, 14.67mm wide at its butt, 19.75mm wide by c. 9.5mm thick at…

The dirk itself is missing the tip of its blade, but is otherwise preserved intact. Demonstrating a squared off thickened butt with two semi-circular notches (one on each face) cut into each side to facilitate hafting, The blade itself is lenticular in section with a broad, flattened midrib on each side. Object type: CORE
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Suffolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A knapped flint core of probable Bronze Age date, c. 2500-1500 BC. The core is sub-rectangular in plan, demonstrating removals from both faces and sides with little apparent care for flake direction and forethought of detachment. Heavily worked down (probably representing the reason for its discard), it is now patinated a yellowy grey colour with some iron staining visible on its surfaces. Preserved in relatively fresh condition, the core measures 71.43mm in length down its longest axis, c. 56.14mm wide at its widest point and 30.8mm thick at its midpoint. It weighs 159.6g.

Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Suffolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An incomplete cast copper-alloy tanged razor of probable Late Bronze Age date and unusual form, c. 1150-800 BC. The razor demonstrates a leaf-shaped lenticular sectioned blade, the sides of which have suffered some minor losses due to post-depositional damage. The bade tapers towards its rear edge, where there are two trunnion-like projections marking the beginnings of the tang, after which the remainder of the handle flattens out before tapering further and bifurcating in what is possibly the base of a terminal loop (though this section of the object is broken away in old damage).
