A coarse flint scraper likely of late prehistoric date c 2200-1 BC. Description: The scraper is made from a highly patinated primary flake with a rough L-shape in plan. The retouch along the wide straight sccraping edge, alogn the upper left side is formed ofshort, scaled semi-abrupt retouch. There is some blunting along the lower right side from short scaled sbrupt retouch which invades the mostly covering light brown cortex. The reverse shows a small but pronounced bulb of percussion with clear conchoidal rippling. Measurements: 73.88mm long, 40.99mm wide, 11.91mm thick an…

A coarse flint scraper of uncertain date, likely Late Bronze age to Iron Age in date (c. 1200-1 BC). Description: The scraper is very roughly tirangular but irregular and dog-legs in cross section. It is formed from a secondary flake, with a obscured striking platform at the proximal end. The conchoidal rippling is very distinct indicating its production though hard hammer technology, this is particularly noticeable around the heavily fractured bulb of percussion. It has a round scraping edge along one the pointed end formed by short abrupt scaled retouch. The flint is of poor qua…

The flaking has left substle conchoidal ripples on both sides of the flint and a substantial bulb of percussion on the ventral face. The retouch is formed from short scaled semi-abrupt retouch from the ventral face through the cortex on one edge and scaled long semi-abrupt on the wide edge perpedicular to the cortex edge. This latter retouch may be intended to creat a boring point on the …

A small flint Levalloisian core of likely early Bronze Age date c. 2200-1000 BC. Description: The core is irregularly shaped with two striking platforms at right angles. The core has distinctive 'tortoise shell' flaking typical of Levalloisian production technique, however it is far smaller than the tools being produced during the Middle-Palaeolithic and likely relates to the use of the technique during the early Bronze Age. It seems probable due to the size of the core that it may have been produce a thumb nail scraper or other equally small tool. The core is light blue-grey mottl…
