An incomplete piece of late Bronze Age (1100-750 BC) socketed axe head, probably Ewart Park phase, comprising of the blade end. This incomplete object weighs 114.04g and has an incomplete length of 37.8mm. The crescent shaped blade tip flares out to a width of 55.9mm and shows slight damage and considerable corrosion. The sides seem to be relatively parallel. A casting seam can be seen running along the centre line, along both edges, from the corner tips of the curved cutting edge down to the break. A small fragment of a copper-alloy socketed axehead of Late Bronze Age date, that is c. 1000-800BC. The axe was probably part of the Ewart Park metalwork assemblage (Burgess Metalworking phase XII) which corresponds to Needham's (1996) Period 6-7 circa 1000-700 CAL BC. The fragment comprises of the loop and a small portion of the axehead's side. It has a sub-triangular shape 29.00mm in length with a width of 12.74mm tapering to a rounded end of c.7.07mm width.
