The object is bifacial worked with covering parallel flaking. Both the dorsal surface and ventral surface are slightly convex. All edges have low angle retouch. The tang is broad with a central pressure flaked notch at its base. The barbes project at 90 degrees to the plane of the object. A fragment of a middle Bronze Age copper alloy axehead, probably a flanged or palstave type, comprising a 38.3mm long section of the cutting end. The blade is flat in profile, 10.2mm thick and has a flared crescentic cutting edge which appears to be faceted slightly as it tapers. The body of the axehead has a narrow rectangular cross section 18.2mm wide and ends at a break which is patinated and looks ancient.
