A late Iron Age, 1st century BC copper alloy flat linear class II, Holman G3/6-1a and Allen type P1, potin dating to 60-45 BC. Holman (2016:10) writes "Until recently, Group G coins were still regarded as mostly dating from after the mid-first century BC. However, the discovery of four such coins at the oppidum of Corent, France indicates that they were probably already in existence by c.50 BC and it has been suggested that these, along with a few Group F types, may have been taken back to Gaul by Caesar's soldiers. Incomplete Late Iron age, 1st century BC copper alloy class I potin, 100-50.BC, Hobb No.691, is the closest parallel. This coin has been cut in half, the base of the obverse remains, with stylised bust facing right, though only the neck and bottom of the eye remain. The reverse has the rear of a stylised bull with a cresecent above and line below. The recangular casting spur remains on the side of the coin. An Iron Age copper alloy potin, dating 100-50 BC. This is a Class I potin being circular with a rectangular tab projecting on one side. The obverse depicts a stylised bust, formed of three crescents forming the head and nose, with a ring and dot motif in the centre for the eye. None of the crescents meet. On the reverse is a bull, butting left, with a line below and two crescents above. There appears to be a pellet underneath and connected to the body of the bull. The closest exact parallel for this is in Hobbs (1996, no. 705) though none of the early potins are identical. The object …
